We have recently removed some old cupboards from a room in our new house. One of the cupboards had a double socket fitted. After removing the cupboard I noticed that a blue wire was loose and have fitted the box on the wall replacing the wire. Now when I turn the power on it constantly trips the RCD, if I leave either of the blue wires loose it doesn't but then the remaining sockets in the room do not work. Any ideas please?

Have you connected the loose cable in the correct place.? Look at the diagram of the back of a socket on this link. https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/ringmain.htm

Whwre it shows black wires you will have blue and where it shows red ones the you probably have brown. Is it wired that way?

If the diagram doesn't make immediate sense to you then you should call an electrician. If it is wired that way and still trips you should still call an electricain. You should not leave the blue wires disconnected.

Thanks for the reply, i have checked the connections and they are correct and have since spoken with a family friend who is an electrician. he thinls that there may be another loose connection elsewhere which is why the RCD trips. Have begun checking the rest of the ring. Will update if no luck.
