Hi,

I have a spare fuse on my memera 2000 consumer unit and would like to use this to run power to my loft space, I have bought the 2.5mm three core wire and two double plug sockets. 1 is it as easy as wiring the 2.5 straight to the spare fuse as my diy book suggests ( power off of coarse ) and 2 the spare I have noticed is a 40amp used for a previous shower, should this be brought down to a 16amp.

Regards

You're going to need a qualified leccy.

Step 1 Write down exactly what you want to do.
Step 2 Submit to local authority building control and pay the £100+ fee.
Step 3 Install the socket boxes and cable and maybe sockets according to LABC instructions.
Step 4 Complete work and with CU isolated connect it all up.
Step 5 Wait for LABC to test installation.
Step 6 After passing reconnect power.
Likely I have missed something but much depends on whim of LABC who also could leave you without power for up to 5 working days depending how they deal with you. Likely you will need 16A MCB but routing and earth loop impedance could alter this. Some one should complete a minor works cert.

Or get a registered electrician to do the work.

A little over simplified but I am sure you can see not really a DIY job.
