New Electric oven

by Fishie42 » Wed Jan 06, 2010 10:55 am

Hi,

I am replaceing a built in electric single oven and hob with a freestanding electric double oven and hob.

The oven is currently just plugged into a wall socked, the hob is wired into a switch (red oven type switch) which is off the main fuse box.

I know that the new oven will need to be wired into the main fuse box through this existing switch that the hob is currently wired into!

I would like to get an electrician in to do this and check that the wire that is there is adequate, but im not sure how much I may get charged. I can get the oven from a different source that would be £100 more but they would fit it!

Any help on a cost estimate would be appretiated!

Thanks

Lucy

If wiring is in order and intallalation conforms to current
regs , after mandatory tests and inspections are carried out
then in my area , with relavant certification , i would charge
a lot less than £ 100 pound and i am NICEIC registered.
You need to get a quotation from a part p registered electrician
in your area to get accurrate costings. Rates do vary.

hi, as Blakey says, as long as existing oven switch is fed from a fuse/mcb of 30/32A rating then should be straight forward changeover taking no more than 1hour at local rate (£30 + vat me in rural area) check for registered leckie locally, from one of the government schemes or via
'Trustmark' or trading standards 'Buy with confidence' web sites,
