Ive recently purchased a 2 gang electronic dimmer switch but am unsure about how to wire 3 core & earth onto it.Do i put a strap across the live as to feed the 2nd gang?where does the grey/black go?There are no other switches in this circuit. The three core operate a outer & inner set of downlighters.thanks

hi,The switch wiring has been altered due to more spots being added and a extra circiuit being added (outer /inner row) on ceiling. The original was only a one way switch feeding 12 v spots. Now i have 240v feeding a outer row and inner row of spots a 2 gang electronic dimmer with 3 core & earth.?

One way switch on a 12 v dowlighter cicuit originally.due to change /extra lighting the downlighters (12 outer row 6 inner row) this now incorperates a 240 mains out going from one switch only whilst i have bought a 2 gang (GET) electronic dimmer.the wiring i have now from the switch is 3 core & earth ? I know there is one live and 2 for switching but do i strap a live over fom one gang to the other..what significance does the sinowave symbol have to the live.

old switch was only one way.The spark has put extra spots up (12 outside run ..6 inside run) whislt putting extra ceiling up....The wiring is now 3 core & earth out of the switch to feed this 2 gang dimmer. But im a bit unsure about the wiring and symbols on the electronic dimmer(sinowave?)
1 lve must go in each of the gangs i presime and a switch wire into each gang but are these electronic dimmers ok for this set up.

Hi,
I have read & reread your remarks and am still not sure of set up!
Why did leckie who fitted extra lights and altered switch cable not connect them all up?
There are so many combinations possible it's difficult to know without testing which way they are connected.
As you only seem to have one 3core+earth at switches there must be a junction box above ceiling, which could use any colours he fancied...
Most likely he would connect brown as common live to both switches using a short link wire then grey and black (both sleeved brown to show lives) would go one to each out put connection (the sine wave shows variable out put).
best/cheapest way to prove this without risking dimmers is to temp fit 2 gang normal switch with linked lives and swith lines connected as above.
Or get the sparks back to complete the job!
