problem with low-volt spotlights with tranformer

problem with 5 low-volt spotlights with tranformer---->
i installed the spotlights today. when i turn them on, the lights [u]flicker/pulsate[/u] for a few seconds ( umm another way to explain it is its struggling to turn on). but they do turn on. after a while of being on i turned them off, tried turning them back on and they just [u]flicker/pulsate [/u]and [u]dont[/u] actually come on. please help, any ideas are welcome. by the way i have fitted them to another live feed and same affect.
