Coving

I am currently decorating a nursery for the arrival of my son. I was about to fit some of the polystyrene coving around the room and somebody advised me not to due to it being a fire risk.
Can anybody advise me on if this is true or not cause its not something i have heard of.

Back in the 70's the polystyrene ceiling tile was the in thing to cover up bad ceiling but then it was found that in a fire they dripped burning polystyrene on anyone trying to escape from the fire.
Can't remember if they were banned or just went out of favour due to all the bad press.
However not really an electrical question.

Polystyrene decoration is not illegal, you can still buy them (obviously since you were going to fit it) but it becomes a fire hazard when painted, which you would probably have done.
