Hi, I am changing a light switch and need a little advice. There are 2 switches on 1 plate, each controlling 1 light. There are no other switches controlling these lights. Firstly, am I right in thin king this is a 1 way 2 gang switch?
Secondly, the old switch has terminals marked 1,2,3. And the new one is marked L,L1,L2. Could someone please confirm which ones correspond?
Cheers

Yes 2 gang one way.

The common on the switch is either marked com, or lowest number and that terminal must be used. With one way switches there will only be two terminals but you can still use two way or intermediate switches as one way. Either of the two remaining terminals of a two way will work. However one will be off with switch up the other with switch down.

So L = 1
L1 = 2
L2 = 3

Having said that from time to time one does find odd marked switches but that should work OK.
