Wiring a ceiling fan/light

Hi,
Just want to double check this, my sister has bought a new ceiling fan/light, from what she has told me it has 2 lives a neutral and an earth.
Am i correct in thinking that the neutral and earth go to the usual place and the light live goes to the switch as usual but the fan live goes into the live block (assuming the wiring mimicks that of a normal light fitting - neutral block, live block, switch block plus an earth block) - just trying to follow the logic, you're going to want the light to operate on the switch but the fan should have a constant supply to be operated from a pull rod on the unit - does that make sense?
