ceiling light

am putting up new ceiling light coming through ceiling are 3 sets of wires 3 black 3 red 3 earth. tried wiring new light to them individually but nothing now all lights in house have gone off. have checked fusebox all switches up none tripping have now taped up wires for time being.why wont my lights come on please help.thanks geoff

A ceiling rose has a double function it not only fixes the light to the ceiling but is also a junction box. Look in PROJECTS and you will see how it is done. Main thing is to make sure you identify the switch return wire which may be same colour as the neutral.
