Moving a socket in the kitchen.

I want to move the head-height surface trunking (16 x 25mm) which takes the ring to my kitchen’s only double socket. Its height could cause a problem when I install a gas cooker, so I want instead to run the trunking just above the skirting boards and then straight up to the double socket. I may add a second socket above this one. I may or may not need to use two junction boxes to open the ring for its new run.

Is running the two ring cables in the one 16 x 25mm trunking OK? Is just above the skirting board OK? And is doing this myself in a kitchen a problem under the new regs? Not sure how severe restictions are in kitchen.

Hi ROY, regs for kitchen very tight , no you can't legally DIY circuit alterations/additions, 2 cables normally ok as no worse than buried together, regards SPARX
