Veritas Burglar Alarm

by favemuppet » Thu Dec 22, 2011 4:58 pm

Hi.

I have had a Veritas Burglar Alarm for four years. Never had a problem until the other day when it refused to arm (one zone is always "in fault" and cannot be cleared). The electrician that installed it has had a look and thinks its the main processor in the panel which has gone - cost £120 - £150 to replace. He is certain that its not a faulty PIR.

While I completely trust his judgement (used him for years - never had issues), I cannot believe that this "processor" has gone after just four years. Does anyone else have experience of this?

Hi,
if yours is a Veritas R8 the whole panel costs less than £50, and is user programmable so if swapping zone wiring leaves fault on same zone prob. cheaper to change panel.
I don't do intruder alarms any more due to the rubbish quality of nearly all of them, big brands included!
Nothing like Fire alarms where even the cheapest have to be good to meet B.S.'s.
