Two Earths or One?

by flipyer » Fri Jan 13, 2012 11:31 am

Hi

I've just bought a replacement surface mounted double socket on removal of the existing socket it appears to have two separate earth terminals whereas the replacements MK one I have purchased only has one. Is it ok just to terminate the two earths to the single available earth terminal on the new socket?

Thanks in advance.

Normally yes. The twin earth socket is designed for items with high earth leakage and as long as the socket is not used for this special equipment then there is no problem.
