Problem with Internal Switch for External Light

Hi Guys,

I've put an external light up outside, wired it in correctly and bought an internal switch with L1,L2,L3&L4 on the back.

I have 6 wires, two of each (N,L&E). In the switch I put both the Live wires in L1 & L2, then the Neutral wires in L3 & L4 and have earthed back to the mains. The light constantly stays on and I can't turn it off. I have tried different combinations, but this is the only one that gets the light to turn on.

Can anyone tell me if I am actually wiring to the switch correctly?

Tom

Hi Tom,
No is the short answer, the only sw. with L1---4 is an intermediate type, used in 3 way switching.
get a 1 way sw. with only L1 & L2, put both Neutrals in spare term. block in back of box, Lives in L1 & L2, Job Done
