I would like to fit a PIR in my brick out house to operate the lights. I'm never in there after dark for longer than it takes to grab what what I am after, so lights out after a few minutes is no problem.
Lights and power sockets are already in place. Do I just replace the light switch with the PIR? Or is there more to it than that?

If you google "PIR Occupancy Light switch" you will find Denlers Wall PIR Occupancy Switch Wall Mounted PIR Switch two models one with a manual override off switch on the front of the plate. It states:-

Simply replaces existing wall switch - No Neutral wire is needed.
It fits into a plaster depth (16mm) wall box.

So does seem simple to change. Although never used one.

Thanks for that. I just looked at a 360° ceiling switch, which says not suitable for discharge lighting, but I don't really know what discharge lighting is.

It's ok, I googled it.

Florescent is discharge lighting. The label also covers sodium and metal halide which is why it's called discharge lighting.

The tungsten bulb and LED are not discharge lighting.
