Renewing cable to security and courtesy lights

Hi,

I have a 100 watt security light and a courtesy light which were fitted by a previous owner. They have separate cables going to the supply. The wiring is a little untidy and conspicuous, so I want to renew it and re route it. Do I need to keep it as two cables, or could I run just one, first to one light, then from there to the second light?

Thanks

Yes just one cable will be fine, 1.0mm is good enough to carry well over 6A even in the most onerous conditions (The circuit breaker rating must be 5/6A depending on the dvice). The switching arrangements will need careful consideration but you certainly don't need two seperate cables. Sadly this type of work will need certifying as a 'Minor Electrical Installation' with an inspection and various electrical tests required to verify the circuit is safe before any minor works can be carried out.
