Outdoor lighting

Hello. I am replacing the light at the front of my house. The area is quite wide and so I would like to replace it with two lights instead: one 100 W light and perhaps a 100 W sensor instead.

I want to know how best to do this: currently, there is just one cable coming into the existing light, controlled by a switch just inside the door.

Should I just purchase a junction box, feed the existing cable into it and connect the two separate lights to it?

Thanks for your assistance.

No but your Part P registered leckie might do it like that!! sorry but wiring out doors is a 'controlled service' under bldg regs, even extending an existing circuit,BW

I'm in Ireland. Don't think we have similar regulations -- we're allowed move our master phone socket if we want without facing any penalties! :D

In this case, my proposed method would be OK? Thanks.

Hi yes it sounds ok to me, I take it you are in the Republic? cos I'm sure N.I. run same rules as UK.
one thing tho' normal pvc tw/e cable not U/V stable so if running outside should use say 'FP100', 'hituf' or similar type of cable B.W. SPARX
