Wiring a Light From A Socket? Please Help Me...

by tudgie1 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 5:53 pm

Ok....I will do my best here to explain - so please bare with me!

We have had some work done by a 'builder' and I wanted to re-decorate.
He has added sockets in our newly built conservatory and a new light as well.....Upon taking the socket of the wall to re-decorate one of the red wires came from its fixing - being a lay person, I secured it back with the rest of the reds (3 in total) to where i thought it had come from.

Since I did this the light in the centre of the room no longer works!

I can only presume that he has in some way taken the feed from this socket and I have put this red back in the wrong place - Can any one advise me what this 'builder' has done and what i need to do to remedy the situation.

Thinking about it - the red may've shared with the blue (neutral) but this goes against my lay persons intiuition!

Any help would be greatly appreciated - yours in the dark!!!!!!!
