Cord for Bathroon Light Pull Switch has Snapped - How to Re-Attach

Hello

Went to switch my bathroom light off last night and the cord broke away from the ceiling fixture, leaving the light switched on (I've removed the bulb to avoid wasting electricity). The cord was looped at the end fixed in the ceiling fixture and appears to have worn away at the apex of the loop.

I've removed the cover of the ceiling fixture, it unscrewed easily, but there is no obvious place to re-attach the cord.

Can anyone tell me where I need to re-attach the cord and how to do so please?

I am aware that I need to switch the electricity off first.

I can post photos later - when the camera battery recharges. They chose the most inconvenient times to go flat sometimes..... :-)

This is a photo of the ceiling unit with cover removed. As I have had to severely reduce the size of theis phot ot be allowed to post it here I hope it is visible.

Another view of the ceiling unit.

I can't see where I would re-attach the cord. There is no easy obvious place (not to me anyway). I suppose it must be up into the more central hole, but it is not clear how I remove this - does it just pull off perhaps?

This shows the cord and the word away loop which used to connect to the ceiling unit.

In the main I have found over the years main reason for cord breaking is a poor switch which required much more effort than it should to cause it to switch over.

After a few times of struggling to change a cord only for the switch to then fail a short time after I now simply change the switch.
