GU10 Seating Won't Come Loose and Need to Change Bulb

Have a problem with a GU10 seating that won't come loose - the issue is that it hadn't been seated into the outer holder correctly the last time a bulb was changed by the looks of things, and now the bulb's gone again, there's no way to get the seating out, as it's at a slightly off angle. Should say unlike a lot of people who report a similar issue online, the bulb itself will come out - it's the seating itself that's the problem.
Have tried brute force, pliers, the lot - any other advice?
