Hi

I have a feed to my garage next to my house (3mtr corner to corner) it is fed via a 2.5mm2 swa cable taken from a 16A mcb in my house from a (100A RCD cu) then terminated via a 63A isolator in the garage .

Question: Is 2.5mm2 cable adequate, the garage has 2x double sockets next to my bench and a single socket to run the clothes dryer and 3 5ft tubes for lights ( this as been the case for 25 years ) but I just need to make sure that the cable is within regulations , have looked around the web but up to now I can not find any info on that .

With regards to safe current carrying capacity of the cable and the rating of the over current protective device.
Then yes it would seem that that cable is adequate and safe.

You can only draw 16A of current, the cable will be rated at around 31A (providing there are no de-rating factors to calculate in)

The breaker will normally trip before any damage can occur to the cable, so all is fine, in that regards.
