Where is the light switch in relationship to the cable you wish to bury in wall?

The is a regulation which concerns permitted safe zones of cables that are hiden in the wall. The accessory must be directly vertical or horizontal of the wiring.

or be buried at least 50mm within wall (this includes the reverse side of the wall, and must also be compliant to part A of the building regs, concern depth of chases in solid walls and the strucural soundeness.

There is also the regulations concern RCD protection to be considered, when burying cable.

Okay.
So before this cable is buried, is the circuit protected by a RCD?
All newly buried cable must be or alternatively be mechanically protected!

Otherwise, there is no requirement to cap the cable or route in conduit. Providing there is adequate depth to prevent plasterers tools damaging cable.

Further to this great thread, there is a short synopsis of the regulations for Safe Zones for Electrical Cables here:

https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/el ... -zones.htm

This might help to summarise all the rules and regulations in a single page.
