Need a light in my loft !

by Add » Tue Aug 21, 2007 9:55 am

Hi,

I intend to put a new light in my loft. This is how I plan to do it.

From an existing spotlight from my en-suite shower ( easily accesiable from loft) I will run some 1.5mm twin and earth to my new light fitting ( probably just a 6 inch pendent for now).

At light fitting will connect up :

cpc (from t+e) to cpc (from switch)
neutral (from t+e) to connector marked neutral
phase ( from t+e) into pendendent connector marked loop and joining phase from light switch (into loop)
neutral from switch (will add brown sleeving both ends) to phase conductor of pendendent.

at switch phase from t+e into common and neutral( switched live) into L1

Does this sound right - I think it is but need someone with more experiance to give it a seal of approval.

any help appreciated

Hi,

Thanks for the encouragement. Did this little project today with no problems.

I have been studying at college so have got to know the jargon and theroy, but have had very little practical experiance.

Now I have got this one under my belt I feel confident to have a go at some more bits and pieces ( ensuring I comply with part P) !
