How to Change a Light Bulb Stuck in Holder

This is no joke.... We moved house a while back and the light fitting we have needs a few bulbs changing, the problem is i can't figure out how to get to the bulb. I've tried twisting the "globe" but no luck. has any one any idea how i get the dam thing open? Here are some pics........ i know i'm pathetic!
