Hi

I have recently changed an external infa red security light. I took a picture of the original wiring before fitting but now it won't turn on. I have had a look on line but i'm really confused about the wiring as one wire has no live.

Two feeds
feed 1 - 1 black wire and 1 earth wire.
feed 2 - 1 black wire, 1 red wire and 1 earth wire.

As you can see from the photo the black wire on the second feed isn't connected to anything.

Any advice much appreciated.

You seem to have 2 blacks but only 1 red?
Have you a drawing / wiring diagram that came with the sensor?

The floating black which is unconnected , looks to be paired up with the red , in the one incoming twin and earthcable. There is is a possability that the floating black is a neutral connection. The black you have connected , which might have the red ommited /cut , might be some kind of switch wire and not a neutral.
MY advice would be to get in an electrician to help you.
