Security Light Wiring for 400 Watt PIR Light

Hi, I have a 400 watts PIR security light to install. Is it ok to use pond wire, run this down the external wall for a few meters, pass it through a drilled hole in the wall, and attach a plug to it so I can plug it in to a nearby socket? I am after a simple solution that is safe and compliant. What amp fuse should I be using? Thanks Laurangutan.

To be compliant you need planning permission for any lamp over 150W so that is first hurdle, I would think best option would be to get a LED PIR controlled lamp as that will be far cheaper than getting planning permission even if they will grant it.
Not a clue what pond wire is? I will guess you are using the Blagdon system which was developed to get around Part P. This is only still required in Wales, but can't give an answer until I know what you mean.

Pond wire, waterproof flex, should be ok, as long it is no larger than 1.5mm2.
400w light with a 240v supply will draw 1.7A so a 3A fuse should be used.

Although a bit late I thought it may be worth while to mention, flood lights do need planning permission if they are for pitches (football, outside all weather pitch etc) or other such large / commercial use areas, flood lights on domestic property do NOT require planning permission. Although you should always be courteous to your neighbours.
