Hi,

The pull cord broke in my bathroom.

I'm sure this is a common question but can anyone tell me whether I need to just buy a new pull cord or replace the whole unit (see pic) here?

To replace the whole switch will be easier and quicker than trying to source the parts you need, then you will have to figure out how to fit the new parts.
It is your choice, but a new switch can be purchased for less than £4. I know what I would do.
