Bathroom Lighting Wiring for Spot Lights and Extractor Fan

I have 6 led downlights in my bathroom including one above the shower incorporating an extractor fan. The in-line fan has stopped working so Iv'e got a new one.
When I switch off the lighting breakers (2) the bathroom lights are still on and they are on a breaker marked as sockets.
The fan has been wired to its own switch (so that it can be operated independently) outside the bathroom and next to the bathroom light switch.
The fan switch goes to an isolator switch then directly to the fan.
Looking at the instructions with the new fan it says "IMPORTANT: the showerlite must not work independently of the fan"
Hope this is clear. Can anyone shed any light (no pun intended!) on this. Thanks
