Power Feed for Ring Floodlight Cam

Hi,

I have recently bought two Ring Floodlight Cams that I want to install at the side of my property at the front and back.

I live in a first/top floor maisonette so have the attic as part of my property and was planning to install them just below the eaves and feed the necessary cable through the attic and out under the soffit board.

The advised installation height, though, is 3m which has put an end to that plan as the eaves is at least 7m above ground as its a standard two storey property.

My options are, therefore, to feed an external cable, maybe in plastic pipe down from the eaves to feed the floodlight at the required height
or
install the feed internally, chasing the wall to the right spot and then drilling a hole to the outside.

The first option is a lot easier/cheaper than the second option.

My question is, are there any regulations governing which option is allowable and also is it advisable not to feed electrical power down an external wall (it would be waterproofed).

thanks for any advice,

Degsy

Is that the Ring flood light camera that costs £200?

If so, it comes with a fitted plug and 3 - 4M of cable (Depending on where you read) You are going to have to remove the plug (Probably invalidating your warrantee) to run it through black conduit, I would also suggest you install a weather proof junction box adjacent to the camera (At the end of the conduit) to allow you to connect a longer cable to your camera.

I would guess that it has to be mounted at 3m in order for the motion sensor (P.I.R.) to be able to "see" Too high and it will not work as well as it can.

Either option is permissible.
