Help Needed With Wiring new Light up

by Kmoore1978 » Sun Sep 23, 2018 2:34 pm

I am trying to install a new light but having problems with the wiring. I have 4 cables coming from the ceiling and on the back of the new light fitting there is a junction box with just 3 holes, one live, one neutral and one earth (pictures attached) I have identified the switching live but unsure where to put it, I tried wiring it to the live with the other live wires and all the neutrals together but it blew the electrics when I switched the light off.

Please help!

I am left with the quandary of:
"If you have identified the switched live why did "the electrics blow"
Conclusion, you did not identify the switched live, which implies you do not understand how it is wired.

You would be better off using wago connectors and a running a flex to your new light.

I regret to say that unless you have a multimeter and know how to use it, you would be better off calling the services of a competent person to do the job for you. You do NOT need an electrician. Just a person who knows what they are doing.
