New LED Light Fighting With Two Earth Wires

Hi,
I am looking for some advise. I am trying to replace and old metal ceiling light with a new LED light fitting.
When I took down the old ceiling light, I have three wires, one each of earth, live and neural. The instructions that came with the light say these should be connected to the connector block which is fine. However, the instructions also say to take the extra earth wire from the bracket of the light and also attach this to the connector, meaning there will be two earth wires in the connector - the mains earth and one from the fitting. Is this correct? I want to make sure as the earth wire came screwed into the bracket in the light packaging.
I have also attached a few photographs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
