Installing a PIR That Switches on an Extractor Fan

Hi guys.
I'm looking to fit a PIR that will switch on an extractor fan.
The fan is normally switched on by the live from a room light. When the power to the room light is removed the fan runs on using a timer.
I want to fit a PIR that runs the timer on the fan separately from the room light but not power the light.
As it is just now, when the PIR powers the fan, power is connected to the light.
Is there a way of stopping the power reaching the light?
I did think diode.
Please see my diagram from the link. The dotted line is my proposed addition.
