Can I add a Light Spur Using Existing Power From Inside This Switch?

Hi!

I currently have a fluorescent light in the loft running from a standard 3 pin plug but want to make it more permanent. I had already fitted a switch in advance under the loft hatch which controls upstairs and downstairs hall lights.

Is there any way to piggy-back the power from the other 2 switches and make the spur work on the middle switch. Can all of this be accomplished purely inside the switch box as I don’t want to have to run any extra wires and join others if I don’t have to!

Ta!

Unlikely I can't see a neutral, so don't think you can add from switch, need to take supply from ceiling rose.

Short answer is No.

Although you have only live and switched live.

I find that the set up you currently have is better than what you propose as it prevents you from turning on the light in the loft and leaving it on inadvertently.

If you want to "do away" with the plug and lead you have, and have a switch adjacent to the loft hatch I would suggest you call a competent person in to do the job for you (It does not have to be an electrician) as often "too many wires" and no means of testing and identifying them can be somewhat "Troublesome"
