Hey there,

I currently live in a flat that was built 2 years ago. I have just checked the light switch wiring and it seems to me that I am looking at a 3-wire setup with neutral in the switch box.

The switch seems to be a 1gang 1way double pole. (It's the outside switch for bathroom lighting.

Most smart switches I have found seem to be designed for single pole 3-wire. Can I replace what I have with a smart switch? Can I go from double pole to single pole?

(the diagram is for the EU round variant, they do however supply one with the square UK format as well)

Does this switch operate the fan as well?
Its just it looks like and looks to be wired as an isolator, which is a requirement for bathrooms.

As said one of the versions of the building regulation parts, now it seems withdrawn think part L said that if you have a non opening window you need to be able to turn on fan without the lights, so a double pole switch was used with the lights so a second switch could be connected in parallel to fan pole so fan could be run without lights, but lights could not be used without fan.
