Hi wired a loft light using existing circuit in loft, but the LED light I fitted flashes when switched on. when switched off with the supply on in the circuit, the room immediately below the cable I linked into the light was on permanently. when I undid the new trunk the light went off and operated from the switch as it should. any suggestions where the problem lies

You have incorrectly wired it.
I can not be more specific as that is the only information I have.
If you can post (in-focus) pictures of the light, the place you connected it to, the switch and its connections then I may be able to help further.

Hi Mr White apologies for mixup with the photos some issues around how they were being uploaded J Gardiner has kindly offered to upload them on my behalf the pictures are exactly how the wiring is and the LED flashes continuously when switched on regards

By your description, it sounds like you have used the live and switched live as permanent feed to your witch rather than using a live and neutral, this could cause the flickering and could cause the other original light used to get the feed from to stay on permanently (when the new switch is closed or 'on'"
Looking at your picture, as an installation observation, you should cover the cpc (earth) with a green and yellow sleeving, also you should try to not have any copper protruding outside of the terminals.

You have so far made so many errors, that you are a danger to yourself and your family, I am sorry to say that you should call in a competent person to do the job for you. (It does not have to be an electrician)

Mr White you say that so many errors had been made but what they were, i must point out that the wiring which I posted was just to show how it was before Id already dismantled the wiring waiting on advise!!!!
