Help Buying a Fused Spur. Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

Hi,
Don't laugh.
I can't get to a shop at the moment, and I want to fit an extra socket.
I want a particular make, and range, MK Logic Plus, and that brand in particular are labelling everything 'fused spur & flex outlet.'
I'm guessing it's what I want, and it could serve as either.
So fused spur OR flex outlet would be more accurate??
It's confusing the hell out of me, and there's no one to ask, and none to look at.
Can anyone confirm that these units are what's needed to spur an extra socket off an existing one.

Fused spur with flex outlet is exactly what it says it is.
It is a fused spur, with an outlet for a flex. The outlet for the flex is usually a hole on the front. You some times see them next to hot air hand driers. The flex comes out the front into the hand drier.
You just want a Fused spur.

You'd think that was obvious.

But these items have a concealed flex outlet, by the look of things.

They say if it has a flex outlet or not in the description. Have a look for TLC direct.

At least TLC have a decent pdf of MK's product range.

I'm still confused though, and it seems that MK do not make a fused spur unit.

A big choice of flex outlets, though.

Everybody must be fitting wall heaters instead of extra plug sockets.

[attachment=0]IMGP7387.jpg[/attachment]This is the way I often do it, the make is LAP think Screwfix special allows a socket, switch, and fuse in one face plate.

A ring final can deliver 32A but 2.5 mm cable is good for around 20A depending how installed, but it is allowed to have a double socket from 2.5 mm cables without a FCU as it is considered the fuse in the plug stops overload.

With a 25A radial you don't need a FCU, however the volt drop limits cable length.

MK, who's site doesn't help has email me back to tell me I want their K337WHI for my extra socket.

The CEF site, and others, describes this as...

"MK Logic Plus 13A DP Unswitched Fused Spur with Flex Outlet White"

MK, the electrical company, think it can be a spur and a flex outlet at the same time.

Try googling for an MK unswitched fused spur if you don't understand what my problem is.

Flex outlet means it can clamp the cable often the outlet is out of the bottom of the unit so it is not seen, [img]https://www.mkelectric.com/PublishingImages/Product%20Images/Wiring%20Devices/White/Logic%20Plus/K337%20WHI/K337%20WHI_158.jpg[/img] so the FCU can be used as a flex outlet or without, the main point is it has the option to clamp the flex.
