External socket fitting and connecting to interior socket

Can someone sanity-check my idea please, and comment...
I’d like an exterior socket on in the garden. In a part of the house that extends into the garden with interior sockets in exterior walls. I thought I’d get an exterior IP-rated socket, drill through the wall behind one of the interior sockets, and pass a cable through the wall. Then mount the exterior socket so it covers the hole, seal round it, and connect it to the back of the interior socket. The interior socket is on a small, separate ring main to the rest of the house (it’s in an extension) so has its own RCD in the consumer unit.
Stupid idea?
Cheers!
