Installing metal light with pull switch

Hi I have a metal light that I am looking to install. I was going to take a cable from my current 2.5mm lighting circuit through a junction box. I have a pull switch that I was going to add. My questions are
-What is the best way to add the pull switch?
-Can I use a ceiling rose without the cover to make the connection at the light bearing in mind it is metal. A full ceiling rose with cover is too large for the metal top of the light to fit over (see pics) I have some 2.5mm cable. Is that ok to use up to the light?

Hi mikedry
You could use 1mm t&e for your lighting circuit but will have to instal a fused spur. Your pull switch must be fitted in the live circuit and you may be able to use the light pendant cover to protect your ceiling connection.
Presumably you know that this should be done by a registered part p electrician.
Regards S

No "fused spur" required as it is on the lighting circuit, and no Part P registered person required as it is an existing circuit. Sorry about that.

The Maestro Plug In Ceiling Rose slide has a 1/2” BSB female thread to accept a matching tube or threaded hook supplied. Using one of these instead of the existing gives you the standard connections found in any ceiling rose to connect to switch, and means your not holding the weight of the lights while making connections.
