Bathroom wiring

I have a light above the mirror in my bathroom which I no longer want but obviously if I remove the light I'll have electrical wires sticking out of the wall. I've been told that I can just plug the ends of the wires and then cover them up with a larger mirror. Is that true? And is it safe to do that in a bathroom with all the steam and moisture?

Not recomended. ALL electrical work in bathrooms(special location) is notifiable to b/c or must be carried out by a competent person. If the the light was removed and the wire was left in place there would be no indication of the live wire beneath the surface. Nail in wall, through wire, shock. The wire should be removed and terminated out side the bathroom with closed junc box.

The wire needs to be made safe and disconnected.
