Advice re Visonic alarm

Ive got a 5 year old Visonic Powermax alarm system which has been a bit of a pain to be honest. I've replaced at least 2 of the PIR sensors, it is prone to randomly going off for no obvious reason (possibly a spider wandered across it maybe?!) and now the external siren has packed up.
To get it serviced, change the batteries and a new siren is going to cost hundreds.

Would I be better off going for something different?
Ive read good things about the Yale smart alarms. Anyone got any experience of them?

Also, if Im not going to use the Visonic system anymore should I remove it? The only bit that concerns me is the main panel which I think is hardwired in so I dont even know if its feasible for me to remove.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

A visonic alarm is a radio based alarm, all radio based alarms are problematic by design.

I would suggest you opt for a hard wired alarm, as they are less troublesome. If any device has "smart" in its name you can guarantee it isn't smart.
