- Existing light switch
- New sensor
Hi all, just wondering if someone can help, I have a new IQ ceiling mount movement sensor and was hoping to swap it for an existing on/off switch for the room light so as you enter the utility room the light will come on automatically as anyone enters the room.
I assumed naively I could simply change the manual on/off switch for the sensor, but when i opened up the sensor it was not as simple as I had assumed...
I have attached an image of the light switch and the sensor.
There is only one switch for the light.
Appreciate any advice
Cheers

A link to, or a good picture of the instructions would be helpful.

I will guess it should replace ceiling rose not switch, but need instructions to know for sure.

The sensor you have is NOT suitable for two reasons.
1) It is not meant to be wall mounted, it is meant to be ceiling mounted as it will then work as it should.
2) As I suspected (And the instructions clearly show) the sensor requires a permanent supply (Live AND neutral, it then gives a switched live when motion detected.) As with most UK switches, you only have Live and Switched Live, and as I said it's a ceiling mount, not wall mount device.
Get a refund or get a competent* person to mount and connect it on the ceiling for you.
*It does not have to be an electrician, but someone who knows how to do the job correctly and is competent. (You can use an electrician, but at what £)
