Ceiling rose reinstall; red sleeve on yellow wire? Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

So I'm trying to remove and reinstall a new light fitting in bathroom - https://tinyurl.com/1ak6mx9v

Looking closer at the rose wiring it seems there is a red-sleeved yellow wire going into my L terminal. If this is the switch-wire why is it yellow? Why are there also 2 red-sleeved switch-wires; one black? Also note the two brown wires connected to the old light socket. Odd?

The new light fitting has standard L, N, & E terminals. I plan on wiring using the diagram below, except with 3-core flex with earth connection.

Is it a case of just matching the wiring exactly, into new terminals? I plan on just using 15A terminal connector strip bound with electrical tape after; does this sound OK?

There is no rule that says what colours must be used for what regarding lighting it is up to the individual doing the job what colours they actually use.

Your thinking regarding connecting your new lamp the same way it is now is correct, the only thing wrong is the connectors and insulation tape, you can now get "wago" connectors which are much better, you should also use a wago box.

The yellow may be from a 3 core cable going to a extractor fan, there will be a permanent live, a switched live & a neutral going to a fan.

The black switch wire will be for the lamp

Yes you are right, I realised after I posted that the extractor fan is wired to turn on when the light does.
I'll match the connections in the wago that should be here soon.

Well I thought I would give an update as it may help others in future.
Wired up all fine, everything works :)
Hardest part was aligning mounting holes on the fitting to the joist in the ceiling.
