I’ve got an existing 1 gang blank plate socket approx 450mm off the floor in the bathroom which used to feed an electric towel rail and has a fused isolator switch outside the bathroom.
I am thinking of changing the blank plate for a 1 gang motion sensor and wiring up some led strip lights under the bathroom cabinet, beneath the sink. This would create enough ambient light at night and won’t need to pull the noisy pull cord!

Is this ok to do? I can’t seem to find any 1 gang motion sensors suitable for bathrooms?

The switch is not a problem, the lights are though.

In order to have an electric light near water it has to meet specific criteria, anything you "cobbled together" would not meet the criteria.

You would be better off installing a battery operated LED light with PIR sensor. It would be easier and look neater. (Not to mention a battery powered light would be cheaper than a good switch with PIR)
