Hi all,

Hope you can help with this ('hopefully') straightforward question;

I am just replacing a pendant light/set-up with a new type; this requires removal of the previous white plastic ceiling fixing (only 3 years old) and sorting the wiring.

Seems as though my options are;

1) put the existing wiring (switch, etc) on a choc-block, electrical tape up and try and stuff in the next section that goes onto the ceiling, which, as you can imagine, is very tight.

2) buy a slimline connector box and try and force into the existing hole in the ceiling, once connected, but, may have to make the hole bigger and will show around the new ceiling plate.

Other than that. am out of ideas and would most certainly appreciate all helpful input as, am sure, this is a common issue.

The easiest and best way is to use wago connectors and a wago box and a short cable.

You remake the connections as they are, but in wago connectors, not connector block, you then add a short piece of cable to where the existing light fitting was connected.
You push the cables, in their wago box into the ceiling leaving the new short cable in the room, this new cable you connect to your new light fitting.

Wago connectors are maintenance free, which makes them ideal for the job, the single cable you have connected to your new light should easily fit behind the light as it is just the one cable, and in 3 years time when you change the light again, you will be thankful you used wagos as you now only have one cable to worry about.
