Change ceiling light with 3 red wires in one socket?

Hi All
I was about to change a ceiling light and found it had 3 red wires put together in one socket, 3 black together in one socket, (one came from a white cabled wire) and the other socket had two red in it (one of those came from a white cable). The light switch for the old fitting turned the old light on and another light further on.
The new ceiling light has a blue and a brown wire and I can see where these go into the connectors, but I only have a plastic connector attached to new new light and after putting the blue and brown wires in have 6 connectors left with 8 wires still to place, any ideas?
