I have a diagonal wall in my lounge and I wanted it install underfloor heating matts. I have two options, leave gaps at one end in order to lay the strips down, or cut large sections of the mat to run long singular wires along the diagonal edge. I can't find the resolution anywhere!

UFH mats / cables work on the principal that a set distance (of cable) will get to a set temperature (Due to its resistance) If you cut it you will change the resistance, not to mention you can't join it properly. (Don't bend or fold it, either)

There are many types of heating mat, but with the chemical type it can be cut to lenght, and does not need sensors. As the cable gets warmer its resistance increases, and so it self regulates.

Some you need to install whole lenght, some has points where it can be cut, and even the chemical type needs special sealing ends.

So you need to say what type.
