Hi
I have just taken down a kitchen cabinet to find the wall underneath has the wire to a kitchen socket that is half buried - half way down where it is exposed the wire has been joined with a large terminal block that sits out of the wall. Can I fix it if so how or do I call an electrician - bearing in mind no electrician will come out here unless its for a big job!

its part p work because it is in a kitchen and not diy.
( i know u did not want to hear that - sorry )
but if it is still in service then it should be connected into a
surface box with blank plate so it can be identified as a safe zone . basically anyone seeing this box will avoid penetrating the cable
horizantially or vertically along its whole length .
it is for the above reasons that you never bury a cable joint of this type
because no one would know it was there.
also fault finding would be easier.
