Outdoor Wiring Regs

I am currently contracted to build a large decking area with spot lighting and outdoor power points. can soneone please help me out with the regs on wiring, the electrician on site has laid over 40 foot of buried armoured cable and 3 core flex (providing power to and from a shed and supplying feeds to uplighters in wooden 'stepping stones'). At what depth do these have to be buried? ( the electrician had assured me 8 inches is sufficient) and does the un-armoured flex have to be tacked to the decking joists?
Lights and power supplies are all 240V.

Hi thegusd,
Your sparky should be aware of the regs as longs he has the right qualification, this is a part p installation and your electrician must have that qualification to carry out this type of work or it's illegal.
some guide lines,
minimum depth 500mm. if digging may occur 600mm, burried cable marked by covers or suitable marking tape, this should be route marked and drawings recorded. Just a few points of many.
Check he's qualified.
Kind Regards

The regs don't give a depth, but what they do say is deep enough to not be disturbed by reasonable working of the soil.
