Hi All,

Earlier tonight i lost all the lights in my home. It happened as an upstairs light was turned on as part of a sequence of turning on 3 lights all situated close to each other.

All other electrical circuits, heating, ustairs and downstairs ringmains are all working just fine so i assumed it was just the fuse but this turns out not to be the case.

As stated above ALL the fuses appear fine (they are the cartridge and fuse wire type) just to be safe i rewired the lighting one with new 5a fuse wire, still nothing.

So far i have:-

rewired the fuses as above
Checked all the light switches for blowing and connection visually. All appear fine.
Visually checked the light that was being turned on when the fault occurred.

I am now running out of things to check so before i resort to spending money is there anything else i can check/do?

All suggestions gladly received !

Thanks in advance

John

HI LHTEC,
Firstly are all your upstairs and downstairs on the same circuit (using the same fuse) If so it sounds like you have lost power at the start of this circuit. Process of elimination you need to find out which light is first in circuit. I'd guess the closest to the fuse box, So you need to inspect these lights at the ceiling for loose or damaged connection. This is the first and most common thing to do. If still no joy, could be fault at a junction box if not loop in circuit.
This needs a little more experience to find where juntion box is situated.
Best of Luck
