Wire's

I have brought a new double light switch. I did write it down where the wires went before removing the original one but it has got lost. Any ideas that could help as I have been trying now for nearly 2 weeks.

More info please as possibilities endless, are switches both only 1 way or do 1 or both form part of a 2 way arrangement?
how many cables? are they twin/Earths or are they 3core/earths?
If 2 way look at sw at other end of circuit and note colours used in each terminal, especially the com. term!
will do our best to help once above known, you could in meantime look at Doc's 'projects' section under lighting circuits, most are there in colour
