Hi,

I am fitting two sockets into the garage where there is currently no access to the ground floor ring main. There is however a spare MCB in the consumer unit. The sockets are on opposite sides to the Consumer unit. Do I need to set up a new ring main just for the garage or can I run them as 2 spurs direct to the same MCB?

You can wire them as a ring final circuit (ring main) fused at 32 amps or as a radial circuit fused at 20 amps. Check the projects page for more info. These sockets must be protected by an RCD and this work is notifiable to your LABC

The radial circuit seems the most logical for 2 sockets

Just confirming
The radial is from the mcb to the first socket, then on to the second socket.

Wiring back to the mcb from each socket seperately would be TWO radial circuits.

Even though it is a 20 amp mcb, BUNCHED CIRCUITS in the board are not really acceptable.

Point taken thanks- that was what i had intended to do. thankfully i am able to make a ring (just) I will then put a 32 amp mcb in.
